What a navigator actually does

DRIVEN is a TSD rally, Time, Speed, Distance. You are not trying to be fastest, you are trying to be exactly on time at hidden checkpoints. The navigator holds the route book, watches the clock, tracks the target average speed and calls out “ease off” or “pick it up” so the driver can just drive. It is timing and teamwork, not horsepower.

Why the navigator wins it

A calm navigator with a steady watch will beat a fast car every time. Arriving thirty seconds early is penalised exactly like arriving thirty seconds late, so the whole game is precision, and precision lives in the passenger seat.

How to pick a great one

You can bring one to three navigators, so choose the friend who stays calm, likes a bit of arithmetic and will laugh with you when a turn goes wrong. No experience needed, we brief every crew fully before flag-off. Honestly, the navigator’s seat is where most first-timers fall in love with rallying.
